The Team

Hi everyone, I’m Tash (@curlwitch) and I am the proud owner and founder of The Curly Bar. Curly hair is my soul purpose and I am on a mission to make texture mainstream. I have been in the hair and beauty industry since 2011. In my time I have enjoyed seeing the cultural shift in our collective that sees the beauty of the individual and celebrates diversity in all of us rather than trying to fit into one standard of beauty that is impossible for most of us to attain. 

My natural hair journey began after 26 years of straightening using chemicals and heat to assimilate into dominant culture and the eurocentric beauty standard. 

During my transition period I noticed the lack of professional, quality salon services in New Zealand and upon reading the definition of a “curl specialist” my soul was ignited and I found my calling. 

I have been exclusively cutting and colouring curly hair since 2019. In 2020 I became New Zealand's first Rezo certified stylist and have been hungry for continued professional development ever since. 

My dream of opening a curly hair salon came true in December 2021 and my intention for the Curly Bar is for our clients to feel seen, validated, beautiful and transformed through the magic of our passion. I wanted this place to be a safe space to unpack past hair trauma, to have our clients see their true selves reflected in the most beautiful and unique way and to encourage the natural hair community in New Zealand to be proud of the crown they are blessed with. 

This is a place of deep transformation in the most authentic way. We teach, we create, we empower, we nurture in our luxury salon. This is the space that our curl community deserves. I believe our clients should never compromise luxury and comfort for a quality hair service.

Hey everyone! My name is Keira(@curlsbykeira), I am 26 years old, and I was born and raised in Auckland, New Zealand. I got my first hair straightener when I was 11, and had been getting keratin treatments every 6 weeks for around 6 years. During the first COVID lockdown two years ago, I was encouraged to embrace my natural hair, and I am so glad that I did! I became absolutely obsessed with learning everything about curls, and I am grateful to have the opportunity to help others learn too. 

In my spare time, I love spending time with my hubby and our Border Collie, Kamera. 

I have been at The Curly Bar since June 2022, where my training has mainly been focused on wash and dries treatments and styling. I will be working towards my Rëzo  training over the next few months. I have loved my journey so far, and I am excited to keep talking all things curls!
